By advocating for a particular project and raising money from their
friends and family, students add another dimension to their b'nai
mitzvah journey and make a lasting connection to their community and
philanthropy.
The Mitzvah Makers is a free service to any San Diego b'nai mitzvah student and offers tools and guidance to make your project great!
We offer the ease and convenience of using Federation as the centralized place to promote your philanthropy project and to collect secure on-line credit card donations on its website that are then distributed to the cause of your choice (of any 501(3)(c) nonprofit).
Jewish Federation celebrates all of the b’nai
mitzvah students of San Diego?
There are so many benefits to being a Mitzvah Maker -- all free of charge. You will have the opportunity to:
- Create a customized donation page on our website
- Receive a certificate from Federation on the day of your bar/bat mitzvah signed by Michael Sonduck, President and CEO of Federation and your rabbi
- Receive an engraved tzedakah box
- Receive organizational support, leadership development, mentoring and guidance throughout the process from the Mitzvah Makers coordinator, Mitzvah Makers volunteers and Federation board members
- Participate in educational programming for students and their parents to learn about Jewish philanthropy and Federation programs
- Learn more about the needs of the Jewish community in San Diego and overseas and become an agent of change
- Be recognized at the Federation's annual meeting and other community events
Who can participate? Any b'nai mitzvah student entering grades 6-8.
